Miss Nelson is missing
We took a field trip to Main Street theatre to see the play Miss Nelson is missing. It was very funny and slot like the book. Afterwards, we went to the park and had lunch.
We are poets and didn't even know it
To start off our poetry unit we went outside and looked at things around us through our scientists (magnifying glasses) eyes. The next day we went outside with our "poet eyes" on. We went back to the classroom and described what we saw as a scientist and then as a poet. Students have been creating their own poems, WOW! We do have lots if poets in kinder.
Surprise reader
What a great surprise!! It was "Grammy in the Hat". For d's Grammy came and read to us and even brought a sweet surprise. Our class loved it! Thank you Grammy Givens.

Rocks and Soil
We have been studying about rocks and soils. We learned about the different properties of rocks: color, hardness, luster, and texture. We talked about the different kinds of rocks also. As an experiment we filled our water bottles with dirt from the playground and added water. We let it sit overnight, and when we came back to school, our water bottles looked different. We predicted that there would be mud in our bottles the next day. Much to our surprise, we found that the dirt had settled, and we saw different layers. The mulch floated to the top, and the sand to the very bottom.
100th day of school
100 days of school!
100 days of school!
We've been in school 100 days
100 days today!
On February 5th, we celebrated the 100th day of school. To the dismay of some, we did have to come to school the next day, we weren't finished with kindergarten just yet. We celebrated by parading through the 1st grade hallway, with our 100 day flag, and our 100 day collar, and then had some fun in the extra kindergarten classroom. We read a 100 day of School book, we sang some songs, we exercised to by doing 100 movements, read some poems, and then we got to lick a tootsie pop 100 times. YUM!!!!! To finish our celebration, we had a 100 day snack. The students had to make their cookies look like the number 100. It was such a fun day!
